A little guidance
A little help,
when you need it.
Find help with reminders, saved Moments, sharing and your data.
Reminders
My reminder didn’t arrive.
First, check that reminders are on in 13BY28 and that a saved time is shown.
Check the app’s notification permission, Focus or Do Not Disturb, and battery restrictions in your device settings.
Reopen 13BY28 to refresh upcoming reminders, especially after travel or a timezone change. Your device may delay or suppress delivery. Exact timing is not guaranteed; reminders will not necessarily continue indefinitely if you never reopen the app.
Avoid resetting or reinstalling as a first troubleshooting step—you could lose saved data.
How do I change my reminder time?
Open Settings, then Daily reminder. Choose Edit time, change the time and save.
Check the saved time shown on the reminder screen. It is local to your device. You can turn the reminder off using its switch.
How do I know my reminder is saved?
Look for the saved confirmation and time on the reminder screen. If an error is shown instead, do not assume your change was saved.
Saved Moments
What’s the difference between saving and marking?
Save a Moment to find it again later. Mark it to record that you engaged with it.
They are separate, optional actions. Saving does not mark a Moment as completed, and neither creates a streak or missed-day score.
Will my saved Moments move to a new phone?
There is no account-based cloud sync. Your operating system may include app data in a backup or device transfer, but recovery is not guaranteed.
Keep your old device’s app data until you have checked what is available on the new device. Do not reset or uninstall as a first troubleshooting step.
Your data
Before you reset or reinstall
You could lose your marks, saved Moments and preferences. Please don’t use this as a first troubleshooting step.
Where are my marks and saved Moments stored?
Marks, saved Moments and preferences live in the app’s local storage. There is no account-based cloud sync. Your operating system may include app data in backups or transfers.
What does reset remove?
Reset removes the app’s local data. Uninstalling may also remove it. Do not assume you can recover it afterward.
Reset cannot remove images already shared elsewhere and does not necessarily remove earlier operating-system backups.
Understand the app
A few words,
made simple.
These names explain the context behind one Moment—not extra things you need to complete.
- Moment
- A short daily invitation to do, notice or reflect on something. Taking action or marking it is optional.
- Phase
- A theme explored for 28 days. There are 13 themes in the regular cycle.
- Act
- A weekly approach to the theme. Each Phase has four Acts: Notice, Practice, Deepen and Integrate.
- Beat
- The daily focus: one part of life where you explore the theme. Each Act moves through Mind, Body, Space, Craft, People, Play and Pause.
- Saving
- Keeping a Moment you want to find again later. It does not mean you completed it.
- Marking
- An optional record that you engaged with a Moment, shown in your calendar. There is no streak to maintain.
- Intermission
- Every December 31. A day outside the 364 regular Moments, between one cycle and the next.
- Offscript
- December 30 in leap years only. An extra day outside the regular cycle. Neither Offscript nor Intermission belongs to a Phase, Act or Beat.
The calendar
Can I start halfway through the year?
Yes. Open the app for the current point in the calendar. It begins January 1 and follows your device’s local date, not when you installed it. You do not need to start from day one or catch up.
Do the themes replace the normal calendar?
No. They add a rhythm to the year: 13 themes of 28 days, with 364 regular Moments. December 31 is Intermission; December 30 in leap years is Offscript. Ordinary dates still tell you where you are.
Appearance
What’s the difference between appearance and colours?
Appearance controls light or dark presentation. Colour preferences change the palette used for Moments. Neither changes the Moment text or your place in the calendar.
